In the south of Japan there is the mountain and volcano filled island of Kyushu. Volcano’s are a source for hot springs which are a popular tourist attraction in Japan. Beppu is one of the cities that is famous for its hot springs. An of the most popular attractions are the 8 geothermal hot spots located around the city. They cannot be used for bathing but are just for sightseeing as they have different colors ranging from white to brown and blue to red. Other attractions are the bathing houses, sand baths and ropeway going up to mount Tsurumi.
