Toyota Supra MKIV

Launched in May 1993 to the Japanese market is the fourth generation of the Supra. Development started in 1989 and Toyota aimed for a more high performance car compared to the previous generation.

It was shorter, lower and wider which, together with using lightweight materials, resulted in an average of 100 kg less weight versus the MKIII Supra. Two engines were available, a normally aspirated 3.0 inline 6-cylinder (2JZ) and a turbocharged version of this engine (2JZ-GTE).

In Japan, the Supra with 2JZ engine was marketed as SZ and the 2JZ-GTE as RZ or GZ. Introduced in 1993, there were no major changes on the model until mid 1996, when a facelift was introduced. The front bumper was redesigned, front and rear light got a dark tint and reflectors were added to the front and rear bumper. In the interior the facelift could be recognized with a new meter cluster with 5 gauges instead of 3 gauges.
